Nelson is the perfect place to visit during July long weekend because there are endless things to do and see! With Nelson’s historic buildings and abundance of outdoor activities, it should be on the top of your list of places to visit in BC. If you end up in Nelson for Canada Day, here is a list of things to do!

1. Zipline at Kokanee Mountain Zipline

KMZ will be open all weekend from 9am to 5:15pm with tours leaving every 45 minutes. Prebooking is recommended to ensure your group gets to go ziplining together. Bookings can be made over the phone at 1-844-764-4484 or through our website.

We have six unique ziplines offering 365-degree views of the mountains around you! The tour is fully guided, so sit back, relax, and enjoy flying above the trees! It is a superb activity for the whole family as no prior ziplining experience is necessary!

2. Visit Lakeside Park for Fireworks and More

Below the Big Orange Bridge, also known as BOB, you will find the beautiful Lakeside Park. There is a jungle gym, a large grassy area, and an expansive beach. We think it is a fantastic place to spend the day celebrating Canada’s birthday!

For Canada Day, they have many family-friendly activities in the park, including face painting, sand castle building contests, pancake breakfast, fireworks, and live music.

Lakeside Park also has Rose Garden Café, where you can get an ice cream cone, wraps, and other delicious snacks.

3. Rent Paddle Boards and Kayaks from Nelson Paddle Board and Kayak Rentals

With hourly rates, full day rates or overnight rates, you have the opportunity to choose your adventure! Paddle below the Big Orange Bridge or to a secluded beach across the lake. By renting water equipment, you'll get a different view of Nelson on the quiet Kootenay lake. If you come ziplining, we can give you a 10% off coupon code for your rental!

4. Camp at Kokanee Creek Provincial Park Campground

This Provincial Park is located 10 minutes from our ziplines so it is conveniently close and a beautiful place to stay over the weekend.

The park has many amenities, including shared bathrooms, electricity, coffee shop, beautiful beaches, and tons of walking trails.

Be sure to make a reservation as it is a popular place to stay!
