4 Unique ways to see Nelson, BC area!

So, you are thinking about coming to Nelson this summer and looking for some fun, unique things to do in the West Kootenay’s while you are here.  Here is a list of 4 different BC attractions in the Nelson area that may take you out of your element or offer an experience you may have never done before.

1. Growing in popularity, a well suited activity to inject yourself into the beauty of the area is road cycling.  Kootenay Cycling Adventures offers high quality bicycles to rent that are set up for light touring or road cycling.  These rental bikes can be setup with panniers & racks for those looking to do their own self-supported multi-day tours. They will provide route suggestions, accommodation options and other local tips to help curate the road cyclists experience or offer fully supported road tours if you choose.  A popular tour is the Nelson Foodie 50km day tour. The route features a portion of the newly paved Slocan Valley Rail Trail, and delicious food at Frog Peak Cafe. Pre-booking is available and recommended to ensure your spot for this adventure.

2. If you are more of a water person, you should consider learning how to sail while you are visiting Nelson.  Sail Nelson is a recognized BC Sailing and Sail Canada boating school.   The instructor has over 20 years of teaching experience with Sail Canada and has sailed all over Canada including the Great Lakes, the Saint Lawrence River and the Pacific Coast.  With this incredible experience, you will learn a ton about sailing while you experience Kootenay Lake from a sailboat.  The courses fill up quick so you may want to plan your trip around the dates available, this experience will be an escape you will never forget.

3. If you are the kind of vacationer that likes their holidays to unfold as it is comes, Cody Caves Tours may fit in the time schedule nicely.  They offer a variety of fully guided tours, from 2hr, 5hr or 7hr which allows you to pick your desired time in the caves and how exploratory you want to get. The tours explore Cody Caves Provincial Park, which is a wild but fragile underground world sculpted by glacier fed waters located above Ainsworth Hot Springs and Kootenay Lake.  This truly adventurous activity requires booking a day or two in advance and they will provide you with equipment needed to push your comfort level in these picturesque underground chambers.

4. Another must do activity, with only a day or two pre-booking notice is Kokanee Mountain Zipline. We offer a fully guided 2-2.5 hr tour that has you flying from tree to tree on a 6 zipline adventure park in the Kokanee Creek Valley.  The guides will provide some fun facts about the beautiful flora and fauna of the Kokanee Mountains, while encouraging you to push your boundaries during your ziplining. No experience necessary for this activity, which means fun for the whole family!

So, Nelson is one of the best places in BC to take your breath away whether the view is by road, water, underground or the air.  See you soon.  For more information about Kokanee Mountain Zipline or to book your adventure, please visit our website http://www.zipkokanee.com or call us at 1-844-764-4484.
