If you’re anything like us, you’re ready to get outside this summer. Of course, we recommend ziplining. Our zipline is designed to highlight the Columbia Valley’s natural environment and we’re proud to have earned Trip Advisor’s 2021 “Travellers’ Choice” Award.
But we’re not the only reason you should make Nelson, BC your family vacation destination this summer. Here are five more reasons to visit our historic city:
1. Hike & Camp at the Kokanee Creek Provincial Park
Just down the road from our adrenaline zipline is one of the most popular camping spots in BC. Boasting an adventure playground, group campsites, hiking trails, and more, Kokanee Creek Provincial Park is a great way to get back to nature – whether you’re adventuring solo or with a group.
2. Rejuvenate in Ainsworth Hot Springs
Even though it’s a half-hour drive north, Ainsworth Hot Springs is a must-do when visiting the Kootenays. First visited by (and now officially owned by) the Ktunaxa First Nations peoples, these hot springs offer a memorable view of the Columbia Valley landscape.
3. Stroll Baker Street
If visiting Nelson for the first time, taking a walk down Baker Street is essential. Nelson is known for its restored heritage buildings and walking down this street makes you feel like you’ve been zapped back in time. Whether it’s eating, drinking, shopping, or just seeing the sights, there’s something for everyone.
4. Learn Local History at the Touchstone Nelson Museum of Art and History
While touring Baker Street, you should definitely stop by the Touchstone Nelson Museum of Art and History. Even though it's indoors, we think it’s important to remember and honour our history! With archives, art galleries, and a cute gift shop, the museum is a touching ode to our historic city, making it an important place to see in BC.
5. Celebrate Art & Culture at the 5th Annual Nelson International Mural Festival
Worried about everything booking up quickly? Then come to Nelson in August, when the Nelson and District Arts Council puts on its 5th Annual Nelson International Mural Festival. Happening August 12-14th, this festival showcases the beauty, art, and culture the local area has to offer.
